Safety Reminder: Subtle But Not Invisible

Thank you for being part of our journey.

When we started creating our subtle designs, we wanted to offer another way for people to express themselves, something different from what was traditionally available.

We believe every form of expression, whether bold and bright or subtle and understated, is deeply valid and special.

But we want to share a gentle reminder: subtle is not the same as invisible.

These pieces could still be recognised by people who may not be supportive. We've seen words like "discreet" and "stealth" in our comments, and we don't feel we did enough to address that. Subtlety is not a shield and we never want anyone to carry a false sense of security.

Pride expression in any form can carry risk. If you feel safe and happy to take that risk, knowing that someone, even an unsupportive person, may recognise what you're wearing, then that is absolutely your choice to make. We would never want to shame or discourage anyone from expressing who they are. But we want that choice to be an informed one.

Because we couldn't ensure everyone, including younger people, fully understood that risk, we made the decision to stop selling these designs.

If you're struggling right now, you don't have to carry it alone.

Whether you're dealing with bullying, feeling unsafe, or just having a hard time, there are people who care about you deeply. We've listed some wonderful charities and helplines below who want to listen and help.

You're also always welcome to reach us at support@equalitythreads.com. We aren't professionals, but we have a listening ear and we truly care about how you're doing.

With love and care,
The Equality Threads Team
